What Is Wrong!!!
Sorry, rant mode is on and no knitting content. I seriously feel the need to get this off my chest. There was a case here a few years ago where a woman was walking on the sidewalk with her child. She was mowed down by some drunk driver. She was killed and her son was seriously injured. The guy who did this was sentenced yesterday. He got 2 for 1 credit for time already served and will be out of jail in 3 years!!!!! People get more than that for crap! I just don't understand it. What kind of a deterent is that?????? I think the justice system needs some serious overhalling and some of these judges need to get booted out on their ass.

The real question is whether locking up the offender for longer periods of time will help prevent future drinking and terrible accidents such as these? Perhaps making sure that he'll get off alcohol and help pay for the child's medical care and college bills to make up a tiny teeny bit of what he deprives the young victim of, something that long sentences in jail would not make up for and does not bring the mother back to life, all it does is adding more taxes for tax-payers to pay.
